Caring for Tattoos

Within the first 2 weeks (and until the tattoo is completely healed) do not go for a swim, take a bath nor visit sauna. Avoid sunbathing and solarium for 4 weeks.

Change the foil bandage - a you feel - before you go to bed or at the next morning and wash the tattoo with warm water (no soap!). Dab the tattoo dry with a lint-free towel (e.g. Zewa) and let it dry for about 5-10 minutes.

Please apply a tattoo ointment (e.g. Pegasus* or Hustlebutter*, no antiseptic ointment!) finely onto the tattoo and cover it with a fresh foil bandage. A simple wrapping film has proved best in this case. This foil bandage should be changes (as described obove) three times a day for the first three days and be worn at night as well.

At all costs keep the fresh tattoo clean; after all it is an open wound which can get inflamed due to lacking hygiene. Within the first week always take care to have freshly washed or desinfected hands when you touch your tattoo.

Use the ointment until your tattoo is completely healed.

If you follow these instructions strictly the tattoo should be healed within 7 to 10 days and the risk for infection reduced to almost zero. If you get a scab on your tattoo, do NOT remove it. Further we urge not to use any other cream, oil or lotion.

If you have any further questions, please give us a call, we will be pleased to help you.

And last but not least: enjoy you new tattoo!

Yours Schattenwerk
